Now that BC has entered Step 2 of Co-Vid reopening and regional recreational travel is now permitted, I'm sure many of you may have noticed Adera Development's sign along the side of the highway in the beautiful seaside community of Britannia Beach.
Adera and Macdonald Development Corporation have joined forces to build a 73 unit mixed-use development consisting of 64 woodframe townhouses, 9 work/live units, 11 rental aparments and 6,172 square feet of commercial space. Neighbourhood amenities will consist of shops, cafes, restaurants, community hall, play park and off-leash area for the park.

Please note that this development is not affiliated with the South Britannia development owned by Tiger Bay Properties (formerly Taicheng), which is still seeking to develop 698 to1050 housing units - consisting of townhomes and low-rise condos as well as a 190-room resort hotel on their 136 acre parcel of land south of Britannia Beach and the BC Museum of Mining, including Minaty Bay, and proposes to include a year-round 269,000 sq ft surf park, run by Wavegarden, who have developed surf parks internationally, with much success.
(Stay tuned for a future blog post on that !!!)
During the most recent community update meeting in 2020, Adera and Macdonald Development Corporation anticipated that the commercial component would commence construction in the summer of 2022, with the village officially opening sometime in Fall 2023 or Spring of 2024.
The residential component of the Britannia Beach project is expected to start construction sometime this summer, with the construction of a showhome building. Phase 1 construction of residential units may begin as early as this upcoming fall, with residential sales likely starting sometime the Summer of 2022, with the first phase closing possibly as early as Fall 2023 and the final phase of the residential units completing Winter 2024.
Preliminary floor plans of the two and three bedroom townhomes show well-thought-out open floor plans on three levels, with single or double garages, balconies and nice flow.
